BLOGGING is a BIG BUSINESS

Quoracreative

Blogging started out as a personal journal by Justin Hall, a pioneer blogger. He wrote his first blogs while he was attending Swarthmore College in PA, USA.

Now with the advancement in internet technology, blogging has now grown to be a very viable home-based business, especially for those of us who love to work from home working our WAHBIZ, Work At Home BIZ.

1. Blogging business is humongous
How big is the blogging business? You may wonder. Well, how big is the writing industry, eCommerce, gaming, news network, entertainment or any global business in general?

Blogging is very much a part of content marketing. And quoting from the Quoracreative:

“Content marketing industry is to be worth $400 billion by the end of 2020.”

No doubt blogging is huge. Just look at the facts from Quoracreative, the picture above.

There is one blog for every three people on earth. More than 3 out of 4 internet users are reading blogs regularly. You can check out the remaining interesting facts on blogging here.

When you are into podcasting or vlogging, it is similar to having your own broadcasting stations, or movie/TV channels. The business of blogging is evolving to podcasting (audio), vlogging (video), mlogging (multi-media) and so on.

Let us give you some ideas of how big a business industry blogging can create. The blogging industry crosses all industries.

2. Blogging crosses all industries
All businesses need a website. Most businesses already have a website. By adding blogs to their websites, it helps businesses to generate more traffic and engagement with their customers.

Think of any retail stores, beauty salons, coffee shops, gyms, restaurants, and any businesses you come across in your daily life.

Most of them have websites. Their websites need blogs to bring more clients. They also need blogs for their clients to interact and engage with the businesses.

3. Blogging is global
The moment you publish your blogs online, they become accessible by the global internet community.

Nestle, Coca-Cola, Disney and millions of global corporations and governments are having blogs on their websites.

Walmart Inc. is number one on the 2021 Fortune 500 list. Walmart is also the largest brick and mortar retailer in the world. Check out their corporate news blog site here.

Their news blog gives plenty of information on Walmart that you would not find in their normal online stores. At the time of this post on 2022, you would find at the top of the blog, links to the following topics:
“About, News, Purpose, Investors, Suppliers, Careers, and Ask Walmart.”

4. Blogging is growing and changing
Blogging is definitely NOT dead. It is changing and becoming more versatile, that is for sure.

Blogging might start out as simple personal journals with texts and images. Now with podcasts, vlogs, gaming networks and other multimedia channels, the blogging industry is evolving and growing.

The word “blog” came from a truncation of two words: web + log. When you present your blogs on video format, you “vlog = video + log”.

Who knows, someone might come up with: “alog = audio podcast + log”? How about “mlog = multimedia + log“?

5. Make it as big as you want
Here is the truth. Blogging is like many other life skills: writing, speaking, designing, cooking and teaching. What you make out of your blogging skill is up to you.
